Last week, we talked about Lock & Leave, which is taking over a property in Lake Forest. The business owner understands the importance of being highly visible, which is why the company had us do building signs that would be visible from a long way away. Now, we finished the second part of the project, which was the design, production, and installation of internally illuminated monument signs in Orange County, CA.
Two Monument Signs Boost Lock & Leave’s Visibility for Drivers
Although the building signs create an eye-catching display, monument signs are critical for tying together the signage placed outside the location. Our graphic artist designed the presentation to give it a brand-centric look and feel. Concurrently, we wanted to maximize the signage visibility from any angle.
This is why you will notice that one sign is V-shaped, heightening the visibility at a cross junction. The other monument is a double-sided product that welcomes drivers on a very hilly slope that faces a busy road. Illumination was a necessity. Customers respond particularly well to lighted signage.
Of course, illumination requires electricity, and we had wires laid to the target locations. The photos we took of the project show the progression from digging the hole for the fitting with an auger to setting the concrete base and poles to mount the cabinets. We engineered the signs to be ideal for the hole depth, pole size, concrete pressure, and rebar cage to meet the city’s code requirements.
Caliber Signs & Imaging Routinely Works with Local Officials and Zoning Departments
We often talk about the aesthetics of the signs we put together. And yes, looking great is a necessity. However, there is a lot more to what we do. Most of it happens behind the scenes. A case in point is our working relationship with municipalities and zoning officials. Our office team is involved with them at every stage, from permit submission, size and engineering requirements, installation, and inspections.
Because we handle all the paperwork and phone calls, our clients typically do not realize how many moving parts there are. That said, we are firm believers in pulling permits, having projects inspected, and meeting – or exceeding – all safety requirements your city and county present. The resulting signage is not only excellent and functional, but it is also entirely safe for our clients and their customers.
What Do Monument Signs Typically Display?
For this project, we identified the property owner, Makena Properties, and the client’s name. For the client, the signage displays in corporate palette selections that perfectly echo the presentation of the building signs. Other clients have opted for a display featuring only a logo, only their lettering, or a change in the color palette to fit in with the overall vibe of a managed property.
