Make the first impression a high-powered one. Your company sign is usually the first impression that you make with potential customers so it needs to be distinctive and memorable. Your exterior or interior company graphic is a permanent advertisement with endless impressions and a perpetual return on investment, so it is always best to err on the side of quality.
Your first step is to decide on channel lettering or dimensional lettering.
Channel letters are good for address numbers, building signage, monument signs, interior lobby lettering, corporate identity and logos. Channel letters are extruded metal structures with plastic faces and usually have internal illumination. Channel letter signs are typically found in strip shopping malls and retail business storefronts. Neon or LED lighting creates high contrast nightime visibility.
Dimensional letters are good for inside and outside applications and may be illuminated or non-illuminated. Dimensional letters are a letter, logo or symbol fabricated in metal or plastic that protrudes from the flat surface of the sign giving it a three-dimensional effect.

Illuminated Signs | LED, neon, store front, channel letters, exterior, custom lighted signs
Illuminated Signs are an effective way to draw attention to your business during the day, and brings new life at night. One of the most effective ways to illuminate your business is by using standard channel letters (see description under Building Signs tab).
Channel Letters are made using a frame typically made from aluminum because it is lightweight, durable and rust free. The face of the letter is a colored acrylic surface, available in many colors, illuminated by an internal neon tube light housed in the letter frame. Letters may be mounted individually or on a raceway mount.
To create an even more effective sign, consider either reverse channel letters or back-lit channel letters. Made similar to standard channel letters, a reverse channel letter has an open back exposing the light source, which when powered shines against the wall surface with a halo effect. With back-lit signs, the letters are illuminated through the front face and open back at the same time.
Choices of illumination include Neon, LED, Halo-lit, and Backlit.
Neon Signs
Neon is the classic choice for lighting because they are available in a wide variety of colors, and emit a very colorful light, effective day or night. Commonly used inside channel letters or the tube itself becomes the sign because of its unique shaping characteristics.
LED Signs
LED lighting is becoming more popular because they are available in a wider range of colors than in the past. For channel letters, LEDs can fit into smaller letters and tight spaces than neon, they are more robust and not easily broken, whereas neon is very delicate. Additionally, LED is more energy efficient than neon and outlasts neon transformers considerably.
Lightbox Cabinets are constructed in a similar way as a channel letter, but are larger, may use a fluorescent lamp, and of course the front face of the box cabinet contains the graphic, company name, or message.
LED Message Boards not only are used to display outdoor temperature and time, but are mainly used to communicate community information in a very modern way by schools, universities, churches, and community organizations. Display features such as scrolling, graphics, and changing colors grab the attention of any passer-by. Messages are controlled by hand-held devices programmed with custom software.
All illuminated signs will get your business noticed, but they do require city permits. Caliber Signs & Imaging can process them for you and take the hassle out of a time-consuming process.

They are best suited as temporary signage in locations with high traffic areas. Our high quality banners are durable for all weather conditions, they may be single or double-sided, and come with hems and grommets, ready to hang. Typical sizes are 3’ x 5’, 3’ x 8’, and 3’ x 10’.
Banners may be used more than once! Using vinyl material you can change out the information and re-use the banner time after time.
Cut Vinyl Banners – a good, cost effective choice for simple lettering and temporary information use.
Digital Printed Banners – these use multi-colors that produce high impact photographic type images.
Fabric Banners – this material is gaining more popularity over vinyl, since they offer an alternative material with dye-sublimation technology. The image will never crack, or peel away from the fabric, and the whole banner may be washed, dried, and ironed without losing image quality.
Mesh Banners – these banners have an open weave design that allows wind to pass through, making them very popular in windy areas so the banner does not flap around, leaving the message visible at all times

Yard & Site Signs
Yard signs are typically temporary signs used by contractors while work is in progress. They are a fantastic way to advertise and promote your services on site in front of passing traffic and potential future referrals. Full weather-proof signs are available in either aluminum or corrugated plastic (Coroplast).
Aluminum and brass signs may be used time and time again since they are rigid and robust, making them perfect for longer term contractor work such as construction, painting, plumbing, roofing, electrical, and pool work. Full-color digital photographic type imaging is available for attractive high-impact messages.
Corrugated plastic signs are the more economical choice. While they are still weather resistant, these signs are popular for shorter periods in similar applications as aluminum signs.
Site signs typically display company information such as advertising lease space for commercial developments, directional and informational signage for new developments, as well as special events. Property site signs are more sturdy and durable than yard signs, the materials of choice are typically a high quality grade plywood laminated with a vinyl surface called Omega Board, or a medium density plywood (MDO) with a paint finish, or a material called alumalite which is a corrugated plastic surfaced on both sides with an aluminum. We provide posts and installation.
CSI offers custom design to suit your corporate identity and message. We also offer a free site survey to consult and advise on the best sign location and viewing distance.

Why Wrap a Vehicle Copy
“The cost of advertising over the life of the vehicle is a miniscule amount,” says Peter Bearth, director of Spectrum Media Group in Dallas, a division of J Perez Associates.
How does he know? New non-public transportation campaigns are being measured and the results will help you gauge the number of vehicles your client needs to wrap or the number of hours the vehicle must be driven in order to reach the desired audience levels in their markets. According to the Transportation Advertising Council, a division of the OAAA, vehicle advertising generates between 30,000-70,000 daily vehicular impressions.
“The vehicles are often equipped with Global Positioning Satellite tracking systems, which can provide detailed vehicle tracking information and, in some cases, audited reports necessary for monitoring the effectiveness of an advertising campaign,” says Freitas. Driving Revenues, a vehicle-advertising firm in Washington, broke those numbers down even further and compared vehicle wrapping head-on against other forms of advertising. Here is what they found a $20,000 investment buys:
- Vehicle signage garners about 8.4 million impressions in a 12-month period.
- Radio attracts 900,000 listeners in six weeks with 10 to 12 30-second spots.
- Value Pak offers a reach of 600,000 with 100,000 addresses per drop and your client is just one of many advertisers included in the packet.
- Direct mail reaches 20,000 names with one post card mailer.
- Seven city buses get 600,000 impressions in two months.
- Billboards get 700,000 impressions in one month.
Case Studies Prove the Point
Autowraps, Inc., a mobile sampling company in New York City, charges between $2,000 and $4,000 for a vehicle wrap that lasts for three years. In this scenario, the return on the investment could be even greater than the figures listed above. Autowraps owner Daniel Shifrin insists that there is no other form of advertising for which small businesses can opt that comes even close to the cost per impression of vehicle wrapping.
“An advertisement in the yellow pages costs up to $15,000 for one year for a display ad,” says Shifrin. And your competitors are right there with you and you have to wait for someone to decide to pick up the yellow pages.”
Let’s look at some real-life examples that prove the point.
Autowraps initially wrapped 10 VW Bugs for Dreyer’s Ice Cream. The cars featured Dreyer’s Dreamery logo, an American flag and some landscaping. VW owners were selected from Autowraps’ database based on their demographic driving patterns and personal demographics. Owner/drivers were paid a monthly fee for two months to drive their wrapped vehicles around pre-determined routes. The selected routes were based on traffic and population flows during peak hours and weekend exposure in specific locations. Each vehicle accumulated at least 500,000 impressions per month.
“From the day we wrapped our first Bug we have been inundated by people who have seen the Bugs and want to wrap their cars,” says David Ritterbush, vice president of marketing for Dreyers Ice Cream.
By the second week of the launch, Dryers had received such an overwhelming response that they added another 11 vehicles to the campaign. The “Sweet Fleet” was also driven through grocery store and convenience store parking lots where the drivers would get out of their vehicles and hand out coupons. Other successful events included drivers going to baseball games and other venues where the Sweet Fleet cars would be seen by thousands of people at one time.
JetBlue Airways contracted Autowraps to wrap nine VW Bugs for a four-week program in which drivers drove the cars eight hour a day, six days a week to generate awareness for the airline’s new route from Long Beach to JFK. The cars featured the JetBlue logo and colors with information about the new route and were driven through targeted high traffic areas. The vehicles were driven in groups of two or three to attract even more attention. The result was more than 6.75 million impressions in the month-long period.
While these are examples of large companies, Shifrin says vehicle wrapping is just as effective for smaller businesses that wrap one vehicle and drive it along normal routes as they do every day business. “We are wrapping cars for real estate agents and bars and restaurants and sun tanning places ¬ every kind of business you can imagine,” he says. “It’s cost-effective and it works well.”
Indeed, as Shifrin notes, wrapped vehicles are one of the only mediums that people make an effort to view. Could vehicle advertisers like Nike, Reebok, Proctor & Gamble, Lycos Sports, Kraft Foods and Coca-Cola be wrong?

Vehicle Wrap FAQ
Q: What is a vehicle wrap?
A: A vehicle wrap consists of a design which is developed by our staff of designers, then printed on special vinyl wrap and laminated, and finally installed or “wrapped” on a vehicle. The wrap is applied directly to the vehicle. The application is so precise it is often mistaken for a custom paint job.
Q: How is a wrap designed?
A: Our in-house staff of designers specialize in vehicle wrap design. They work with the client throughout the process to ensure that the message conveyed in the design accurately and appropriately reflects that of the company, product or person. Final proofs, mockups and explanations are always reviewed prior to sending the job to print.
Q: How is a wrap printed?
A: Our onsite printing department and staff ensures the accurate transfer of the images through its advanced art print server. The large format printers are fitted with state of the art ink systems insuring the best color schemes and resolution available in the industry. We have carefully chosen the media we print on, which has been time tested for use in vehicle wraps.
Q: How do you wrap a vehicle?
A: Our installers are put through a rigorous apprentice program before they are given the title of expert installer. Once they have reached this level, they are capable of handling the most intricate design wrap installations. The vinyl material is accurately laid out and applied to the vehicle – the actual process is extremely precise, requires a lot of experience and is difficult to explain in writing.
Q: Are car wraps applied to windows?
A: Yes, but only rear side and rear windows. Window wraps are printed on a special perforated vinyl that allows the driver to see through the rear and side rear windows.
Q: What if the company information on my wrap changes, can it be replaced?
A: Yes. Graphics, logos, and phone numbers (or any part of the design) can be changed, reprinted and re-installed as overlays on the car wrap.
Q: Can a wrap be removed?
A: Yes. The wrap can be removed. However, attempting to remove it yourself may cause damage to your paint. We suggest having Caliber Wraps™ de-install your vehicle wrap as our installation experts are best equipped this task.
Q: Will the wrap damage my paint?
A: No. A car wrap when applied and removed correctly, does not damage your car's OEM paint. In fact, it protects it.
Q: Is there a warranty on the wrap?
A: There is a Limited Warranty on manufacturer’s materials against fading, cracking or peeling. Materials designed for short term usage is durable for up to 18 months, while materials selected for longer term usage carries a warranty of 5 years.
Q: Will you wrap a leased vehicle?
A: Yes. Since a wrap can be removed without damaging a vehicle, there are no restrictions against wrapping a leased vehicle.
Q: How long will a wrap last on my vehicle?
A: Our wraps will normally outlast the vehicle. You can expect your wrap to last 5 years or longer, as long as you’re careful about high pressure washing.
Q: How do I care for my wrap?
A: It is best to hand wash your wrapped vehicle. In general, avoid power washing and do not use an ice-scraper. Brushing windows and the use of a rear defroster will cause no damage to your window wrap.
Q: What’s the difference between a ½, ¾, and full wrap?
A. A size of the wrap (Full, ½ or ¼) simply refers to the percentage of the car that is covered by the wrap. We can also wrap just the doors if you are not ready for a full wrap.
Q: Do you provide an alternative to wrapping vehicles that still creates an effective marketing impact?
A. Yes, we offer vinyl lettering on hoods, sides, and tailgates that may fit your budget. We can also provide decals, magnetic signs for doors, bumper stickers, and window decals to convey your company contact information.
Q: How long does it take to wrap a vehicle?
A: Our full wraps are typically completed in 1-2 days, depending on the size of the vehicle and intricacy of the wrap. Time estimates are given to our customers prior to beginning the installation process.
Q: What is your preferred process for artwork?
A: We prefer to work with your own artwork provided but our graphic designers are available to design a wrap that meets your requirements and ensures your message will be visibly appealing with high impact.
Q: What type of vehicles do you wrap?
A: If it moves, we usually can wrap it! This includes all types of vehicles: cars, vans, trucks, SUVs, motorcycles, trailers, and even boats. If you’re not sure about your vehicle, then please contact us today to find out if we can wrap it.
Q: How much does a vehicle wrap cost?
A: There are several factors that determine the cost of a wrap. Please contact us today for an accurate quote.
Q: How soon can you wrap my vehicle?

A: We can normally have the wrap installed within a week after receiving your final approval on the art proof.

Wall Graphic Instructions
STEP ONE
The camera must be a minimum of 4 megapixels, the more megapixels the better! Set your camera to the highest resolution because the higher the resolution of your photograph, the better your image will be.
Use photographs taken in a well-lit atmosphere and that are clear, sharp and in focus. Avoid using pictures from the camera’s zoom feature.
Please send us an original file of your photograph in either .jpg or .tiff format.
STEP TWO
You e-mail us your file and let us know the graphic size you want, width and height. Width limit is 52" and there is no length limit.
We recommend one half inch white space border between ink and cut path. This assists in the graphic adhering to your wall. Please let us know if you do not want this border. Also, prints do not come with a laminated finish. Lamination provides a semi-gloss sheen and allows for easier cleaning, if necessary. Please let us know if you want your graphic laminated.
We quote you a price based on your requirements and we give you an estimated delivery time. Normal delivery is usually 1- 2 weeks. Payment is in advance and we accept debit cards (preferred), Visa, MasterCard and Discover. Product is taxable. Add $10 for shipping costs or pick up at our location. Minimum order is $35.
STEP THREE
We ship your product in a tube. After you unwrap it, lay it flat and let it sit for at least two hours to flatten and acclimatize.
Choose your wall location making sure the space is the correct size, and that it is dust free, clean and dry. Smooth walls are better than textured walls. The vinyl will not stick to stone, brick or wood. If the wall has been freshly painted, please wait 4 weeks before applying your graphic.
Place graphic on wall location and begin to remove backing from top of vinyl moving down slowly, carefully and smoothly to bottom edge. It is best to have two people install the graphic. Make sure the image is adhering well to the wall and, using a soft cloth over your fingers, smooth out any air pockets working from the center outwards. Check that all the outer edges are smooth and have adhered.
Wall graphics do not damage walls as they are self adhesive and, they are also repositionable, if necessary.
Enjoy!
